TracXP Industrial Flame Detection

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TracXP Industrial Flame Detection

Sioux Falls, SD – March 2025

The TracXP industrial flame detection system is designed for use in environments where fire hazards are a concern. The system is used for early detection of fires in various industrial applications, such as oil and gas facilities, chemical plants, and power stations, where rapid identification of flames is crucial for ensuring safety and minimizing damage.

The TracXP system typically utilizes advanced sensor technologies like infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) to detect flames, providing high reliability in detecting fires even in harsh or challenging conditions. Some of its notable features include:

  1. Multi-spectral Detection: The system can use multiple detection wavelengths to identify different types of flames, offering high accuracy and reducing false alarms.
  2. Real-time Monitoring: TracXP provides continuous monitoring with fast response times, enabling early fire detection that can trigger automated safety measures.
  3. Integrated Communication: It can be integrated with other industrial control and alarm systems, allowing for seamless communication and data sharing across platforms.
  4. Environmental Resilience: Designed to perform in extreme conditions, the system is often built to withstand vibrations, temperature variations, and hazardous environments commonly found in industrial settings.
  5. Live Video and Event Recording: HD Models provide digital and composite video outputs that can be connected to CCTV and other video surveillance systems.  They also automatically record video of any fire event one minute prior to, and up to three minutes after, an alarm.

This kind of flame detection system is crucial for reducing the risks of industrial fires and ensuring safety for both personnel and infrastructure.

What is Flame Detection?

Flame detectors function by detecting specific wavelengths of infrared (IR) and/or ultraviolet (UV) radiation emitted by flames.  Detection is achieved using specialized sensors responsive to these wavelengths within the electromagnetic spectrum.  Essentially, they are optically recognizing the unique light signature produced by a fire and can distinguish the variance between flames and other heat sources.  They can be configured to trigger an alarm and provide real-time data about when a flame is present.

Ultraviolet (UV) sensors operate by detecting high-energy UV radiation emitted by flames, resulting in ultra-fast detection of fire ignition.  The combination of UV and IR technologies within a single unit (TXP-FDE UV/IR) results in the detection of flame events using multiple wavelengths.

Infrared (IR) sensors identify specific combustion heat signatures through the monitoring of infrared radiation derived from flames.  Models with triple IR sensors (TXP-FDE IR3) offer increased functionality through differentiation between actual flames and potential false alarms.

Key Features:

        1. High immunity to a false alarm
        2. HD video output with an automatic HD video recording of fire events
        3. Data/event logger – alarms, faults, etc
        4. Built-in-test (BIT) automatic & manual self-test of window cleanliness & operation
        5. Window heater to avoid condensation & icing
        6. Tilt mounting bracket can be connected above or below the detector

The TXP-FDE line offers ultra-fast response and performance with Class I, Division 1 explosion proof approvals for the US and Global markets.  Some versions include high-definition cameras that store and transmit visual documentation of the source of ignition and flame patterns as well as any fire suppression efforts.
