SUMMARY

This product specialist is primarily responsible for the overall business success of the Macurco AVNA product line as well as assisting on the Macurco Home & Building product lines working with the Macurco H&B Product Manager.  Responsibility includes gathering and applying market research to lead product development of new products while assisting with the development of a strategic marketing plan to achieve growth initiatives and leading the execution. The development of products includes conducting market research, competitive analysis, generating product requirements, identifying potential products, determining specifications, and pricing, assisting with Marketing and Sales material, and time-integrated plans for product introduction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determines customers’ needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s product to competitors’ products.
  • Evaluate channel effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements or changes to management.
  • Obtains product market share by working with sales to develop product sales strategies.
  • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
  • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing inventory levels.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, marketing, and production.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders while maintaining gross margin expectations.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Analyze industry trends, customer activity, and product applications to determine sales and profit potential and understand opportunities resulting from changing conditions.
  • Travel: up to 15% of the time
  • Other duties as assigned.  

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, Marketing, Communications, etc., and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or appropriate technical field, or a graduate degree in an appropriate technical field.
  • Three or more years of proven sales experience required and/or Seven or more years of experience in engineering or other related technical activities.
  • HVAC, Security System, Fire Alarm, Building Controls, or Communications product knowledge (Preferred)
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office
  • Business Central experience is preferred but not required.
  • Effectively manage time and resources, able to juggle multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines
  • Results-driven, highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects
  • Dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse, tools, and controls on office equipment.
  • Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
