Macurco Applications

Sioux Falls, SD – August 2024

We believe gas monitors can and should go in almost any application. Macurco’s products provide the most advanced gas detection and protection of workers and the community via three product solutions. These solutions include innovative, industry-standard Macurco fixed gas monitors for security systems, building automation, HVAC systems, parking structure, cold storage, beverage, and restaurant CO2 detection; superior TracXP fixed wireless gas monitors for Oil and Gas and industrial applications; and the groundbreaking AimSafety portable gas detection monitors for personal monitoring for specific gases in potentially hazardous environments.

Please see below for common applications you may find related to your application.

Residential / Multi-Use Applications

  • Homes/Apartments/Hotels: Carbon Monoxide Detectors are installed in occupied applications to alert residents of dangerous CO levels, and they are often required by building codes. Combustible gas detectors detect natural gas (methane) and propane leaks in kitchens, basements, and other areas where gas appliances are used. Lastly, VRF detection can be crucial if refrigerant is used in a VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) HVAC system.

Commercial Applications

  • Parking Garages: CO and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) detectors to monitor and control ventilation systems, ensuring safe air quality for occupants.
  • Battery Storage: Batteries give off Hydrogen (H2), which is crucial to monitor due to its ease of combustion.
  • Office Buildings: Monitoring for CO and other hazardous gases such as refrigerant (VRF) in mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, and other areas with potential gas leaks.
  • Schools and Universities: Ensuring safe environments by detecting CO, natural gas, VRF, and other harmful gases in classrooms, laboratories, and dormitories.
  • Healthcare Facilities: Monitoring gases like CO, methane, refrigerant, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to protect patients, staff, and visitors.

Industrial Applications

  • Manufacturing Plants: Detection of a wide range of gases, including CO, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), ammonia (NH3), and combustible gases to protect workers and equipment.
  • Warehouses and Storage Facilities: Monitoring for CO and other gases from forklifts, stored chemicals, and equipment.
  • Refineries and Chemical Plants: Comprehensive gas detection solutions for toxic and combustible gases to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Grow Facilities: Carbon Dioxide is injected into these rooms at a constant PPM value of 1000-2000ppm. Other gases found within these grow houses are Carbon Monoxide and Oxygen.
  • Landfills: Landfills can have dangerous gases rising to the surface or accumulating in the area, such as Methane and/or Hydrogen Sulfide. High levels of Methane can displace Oxygen in the air, resulting in an array of health issues, and at high concentrations, it can be explosive.

HVAC Systems

  • Integrated Gas Detection: Solutions that work with HVAC systems to monitor and control indoor air quality by detecting harmful gases and adjusting ventilation as needed.
  • Air Quality Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of indoor air quality in commercial buildings to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Emergency Services

  • Portable Gas Detectors: Handheld devices for firefighters, first responders, and HazMat teams to quickly detect and respond to dangerous gas levels in emergency situations.
  • Fixed Gas Detection Systems: Permanent installations in fire stations and emergency response facilities to monitor for CO and other gases.

Specialty Applications

  • Water and Wastewater Treatment: Detection of chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, and methane in treatment plants to protect workers and ensure safe operations.

Hospitality Industry

  • Hotels: Ensuring guest and staff safety by monitoring CO, vrf, lel and other gases in guest rooms, kitchens, and utility areas.
  • Restaurants: Detection of combustible gases in kitchens and dining areas to prevent fires and ensure a safe dining environment.

Retail

  • Shopping Malls and Stores: Monitoring air quality in large commercial spaces to ensure a safe environment for shoppers and staff.

Transportation

  • Airports and Train Stations: Detection systems for CO and other hazardous gases in enclosed areas like terminals, maintenance facilities, and parking garages.

Refrigerant Applications

  • Chiller Rooms: Chiller systems monitor the presence of refrigerant leaks, which can be harmful to both personnel and the environment.
  • Refrigeration/Grocery/Storage: Grocery refrigeration systems are fundamental in maintaining the quality and safety of perishable goods, playing a critical role in supermarkets and grocery stores.

Macurco’s diverse product line, including fixed and portable gas detectors, ensures tailored solutions for various specific needs across these applications, enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
